Dr. Elizabeth Volk
I came to my life long vocation in Medicine, through the humanities. As a bright student with a love for novels and history, I was invited to the world of science and found us humans infinitely more interesting and complex. Thirty years in I have never looked back — I still love practicing medicine and in particular, working with patients to understand their health.
Whether starting out as the first female provider in a practice, running my own solo practice, to be employed in a hospital system, I have witnessed numerous iterations of healthcare and have unfortunately experienced its complex and dysfunctional evolution. To find DPC (Direct Primary Care) at this point in my career is refreshing opportunity to practice medicine in the way I believe. To be able to serve my patients in an affordable way that allows plenty of time for thoughtful, considerate and effective care. Not just dispensing medications or ordering tests, but having a conversation — that is care I believe in.
I am the mother of 3 adults — we have traveled the world together in more ways than one, and it has been the most joyful experience of my life. Although I tease them that it may not be as much fun as when I got to make all the decisions — seeing them as adults is continual joy as well. I have forged many long term relationships with patients who have become friends and those connections enrich my life. My strong curiosity about life and how the body and mind are best cared for keeps me learning and growing as a person and as a provider. Through reading and conversations, I hope to make a difference in sharing this knowledge and experience with my patients.

Krista Chernoff APRN-C
Like most people in medicine, Krista went into undergrad knowing that she enjoyed science and that she wanted to help people. Her 7 yrs as a critical care nurse sent her back to school with a desire to help people thrive, rather than just survive. A desire to be preventative as a health care provider.
As a board certified family nurse practitioner, Krista has had experience in a variety of healthcare settings. She believes that good healthcare involves listening, educating, and taking a whole-person, individualized approach.
Although Krista welcomes patients of all ages, she is passionate about optimizing women’s health. With specialized FEMM training in hormones, fertility, and menstrual cycle health, she supports women so they can feel empowered in their health and thrive both mentally and physically.
There is no one-size-fits all in healthcare. Through the direct primary care approach at Health Studio KC, Krista is excited to have the time she needs to truly listen to each patient’s individualized needs, and therefore provide better care.
Krista is a wife and an active mom to two wonderful children. Born and raised in KC, she is a coffee enthusiast who also enjoys exploring different cuisines and all that KC has to offer. She also loves spending time outside — in Loose Park or any other KC jewels.

Amy Dirks RDN, CSCS, CPT
My career began in chiropractic work but shifted into the corporate wellness world for many years as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and certified personal trainer (CPT).
I worked as a fitness specialist and health promotions specialist while attaining my dietetics degree through K-State. As a registered dietitian-nutritionist, I have worked in public health, as a clinical dietitian in hospitals, worked with Cliff Illig (Cerner Co-founder and Sporting KC co-owner) and most recently as a concierge wellness team member. Health and well-being is a personalized journey so I worked with individuals on mental health, physical health and exercise, diet, and lifestyle factors to make them the healthiest person they could be. I love helping people feel better and attain their goals!
Additionally, my wellness background serves purpose in sports nutrition. I have volunteered as a sports nutritionist and was a college athlete for Div. 1 volleyball so putting it all together for MLS soccer has been the ideal combination.
